The thing I know for sure about artists – whether established veterans or determined beginners – is that they are always eager to learn something new about technique or the tools of the trade. As a long-time wannabe artist myself, I can still remember my kindly old high school art teacher telling me how I had more ideas than talent. But I remain fascinated by people who can do it, so I’ve been thrilled to host a series of talented artists on this show, including Mark Schultz, Christopher Hart, Chris Browne, Mark Anderson, Barbara Slate, and Richard Minsky, many of whom have given demonstrations and explanations of how they do what they do.

CAMILLA d'ERRICO podcast excerpt: "The very first Helmetgirl I ever did was because I failed at drawing goggles. They were massive and I was, like, 'Oh, God, I'm messing this up!' I thought, 'Just keep adding, keep adding, and it will get better. You'll get through it!' That's how I created my first Helmetgirl and I thought, 'That's kinda cool!' I had tapped into this other part of my creativity where I really liked industrial machinery. My father had three daughters—no sons. I was the tomboy, always doing stuff with my dad, tinkering in his shop. I would go to Home Hardware with him and go, 'Oh, my God, look at all these things!'"
